Middleton Man Pleads Guilty to Making False Statements in Bankruptcy Proceeding
In Wisconsin, a man pleaded guilty to charges that he made fraudulent disclaimers during a bankruptcy proceeding. During the bankruptcy hearing, he denied having any significant funds, but was found, upon investigation, to have a large inheritance coming to him, and to own, among other things, part of an island in Canada and a Mercedes SUV.

Easter Wisconsin Sees Lowest Number of Bankruptcy Filings in Seven Years
Bankruptcy filings in the Eastern District of U.S. Bankruptcy Court have dropped to their lowest level in seven years. The district, which includes Milwaukee, saw just 7,740 filings recorded for the first half of 2015; 72% of the filings were Chapter 7 bankruptcies.

Debt Relief for Corinthian Students
The Department of Education has announced that it will offer debt relief for some students who attended Everest College in Milwaukee and a number of other Corinthian-owned colleges. The for-profit institution closed all of its campuses and declared bankruptcy after the government, and students, learned of its "predatory practices" which misled the public.

Wisconsin Seeing Less Bankruptcies
U.S. Bankruptcy Court records reveal that bankruptcy filings in Wisconsin were about 8 percent less in 2014 than 2013 as the economy and employment improve.
