Debt Relief, Settlement and Consolidation Attorney

In the current financial climate, the wave of bankruptcies that have been filed has really put the crunch on debtors, which has in turn put many creditors in a tight spot. Rather than continuing to lose money as their debtors go bankrupt, many creditors have become much more willing to negotiate debt settlements. I have helped hundreds of debtors in the Milwaukee area take advantage of this unique opportunity, and saved many of them from bankruptcy.

Many people have been turned off to seeking debt relief due to the fear of being the victim of a scam.  While it is important to be cautious in this arena, it is really unfortunate because renegotiating the terms of your debt is one of the best ways to decrease your burden and get back in control of your finances without filing for bankruptcy.

As I mentioned above, creditors are more willing than ever to work out a way for their debtors to pay them back something, even if it is a significant amount less than was originally agreed to, just to keep their debtors from going bankrupt and leaving them with nothing. The first thing I do after taking on a new client is go over their finances with them to get a full list of all the debts they have outstanding. I then put my years of negotiating experience to work by reaching out to each creditor on behalf of my client and seeing if there is any room to renegotiate the terms of the debt.

Debtors are always able to do this sort of negotiating on their own behalf, but hiring an attorney to do it for you ensures that you will be alerted to all of the pros and cons that come with the options creditors offer. It also sends a signal to your creditors that you are serious about getting your finances in order, even if it means declaring bankruptcy, which can lead them to offer you a better deal.

In addition to re-negotiating your debts, I also make sure you are prepared to meet the new financial demands you are facing. For example, the IRS can tax any debt that a creditor forgives, so I make sure you are aware that tax bill is coming, and are prepared to face it.

If you are interested in renegotiating your debts, I strongly urge you to call me, Attorney Mont L. Martin.  I am a licensed attorney with over 30 years of experience helping Wisconsin debtors get back in control of their finances.
